Claudia – Tutor Interview Questions

How would you describe your teaching style?
My approach is communicative and student-centred. That means you’ll be speaking, listening, and using Spanish actively from the very first lesson. I design lessons that reflect real-life situations, so what you learn in class feels useful and natural when you use it outside of it.

How do you handle mistakes in class?
Mistakes are a vital part of learning! I create a supportive and relaxed atmosphere where you feel comfortable experimenting with the language. Don’t worry if you don’t nail it right away, it is part of the process. Learning a language is a beautiful journey that would not be as rewarding if we all progressed instantly! So, mistakes are blessings in disguise. Every time you think you’ve messed up, it means you’re one step closer to your goals. You know what they say, the only way is forward!

Do you adapt your lessons to each student?
Always! Every learner has different goals and motivations, so I personalise each lesson to suit your level, pace, and interests. Whether you want to improve your conversation skills, prepare for an exam, or explore Spanish through culture, I’ll build a learning plan that works for you.

What does a typical lesson look like?
A mix of interactive speaking activities, listening practice, and cultural insights—all wrapped around your personal goals. You might role-play ordering tapas in Málaga, discuss your favourite films in Spanish, or learn how to express opinions about art or travel.

How do you keep students motivated?
I make sure lessons are varied, creative, and relevant. When students see progress in real communication, motivation naturally follows. I also include topics you genuinely enjoy—music, film, sports—so learning feels inspiring, not like a chore.

What’s your goal as a teacher?
To help you use Spanish confidently and naturally, while developing a genuine appreciation for its culture and richness. I want you to leave each class not just with new words, but with the feeling that you’re doing something that you enjoy and is good for your self-development.
